Associate Program Guide

Instructor's Toolkit

  • The state-of-the-art Instructor's Guide is structured into easily digestible lessons that:
    • Separates need-to-know from nice-to-know information
    • Contains training content and instructional notes that allows for step-by-step teaching, with identification of the related visual aid (presentation slides)
    • Includes learning objectives, example test questions and practical exercises, plus standards of performance and a strength rating chart of test questions that are supplied for the Academics' information

  • Two Editions to fit your needs:
    • CASUAL DINING STANDARDS: Addresses the essentials of the four primary components of dining -- Service, Wine, Beer and Cocktails.
    • FINE DINING STANDARDS: Focused on classic styles of service for facilities that incorporate advanced techniques of service, including tableside functions.

  • A supporting CD contains the visual aid presentation of color slides, which follows the Instructor's Guide.
  • Designed to be taught in conjunction with the Student Handbook - one copy is provided in each Toolkit.
  • A set of color transparencies can be purchased separately for those who do not have easy access to a projector.

Student Handbook and/or Internet Training

  • Designed so that students quickly grasp the material covered necessary to pass the Certification Examination, these manuals are matched with the Instructor's Guide Edition for step-by-step teaching with the information.
  • The CASUAL DINING STANDARDS training is also offered online through FrontSUMMIT® courses (at www.FrontSummit.com). Have your student take the training any time, anywhere!
  • Available in Spanish (manuals & certification tests only).

Certification Examination

  • Testing can be taken online or be administered by a trainer through paper tests.* Trainees can retake the tests as many times as necessary until they achieve certification.
  • The Associate Program offers two designations:
    • Certified Associate Wine Steward (WSA)™:  Wine only test
    • Certified Dining Room Associate (DRA)™:  Dining Room Hospitality test
  • This complete curriculum also has an alternative testing method (administered by the faculty or trainer) for students with documented learning disabilities.
  • Available in Spanish.
  • Students who attain a success rate of 80% or higher on each 30-question test achieve certification.
